Jodi Levine, founder
Jodi Levine is an artist, author, and creative director whose work explores playful transformations of everyday materials. Since childhood, she has been drawn to overlooked objects—sneaking paper doilies off the dinner table and hoarding boxes, toilet paper rolls, and straws to build paper plate clocks, straw necklaces, and shoebox dollhouses.
Jodi studied painting and illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. After graduating, she spent nearly two decades at Martha Stewart Living, where she became known for her inventive approach to materials—transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. She created projects ranging from Elizabethan princess costumes made from coffee filters to cardboard parking garages for kids, and even the crepe-paper flowers used at her own wedding. During this time she was part of the founding team behind Martha Stewart Kids and Martha Stewart Baby magazines, where she served as Editorial Director.
In 2013, Jodi co-founded the SuperMakeIt website with photographer Amy Gropp Forbes, sharing imaginative projects and creative experiments made from everyday and recycled materials. Their collaborations led to the books Candy Aisle Crafts and Paper Goods Projects. In 2024, Jodi partnered with Margaret McCartney to publish Mousetown, a children’s book that combines storytelling with hands-on craft projects that invite readers to build miniature worlds from simple materials.
Alongside her studio practice, Jodi continues to create original creative content for brands and publications including The New York Times, The Week Junior, Highlights, Mattel/Fisher-Price, Walmart (with Todd Oldham’s Smarts & Crafts), Target, Parents, and Martha Stewart Living. She has appeared as a guest judge on HBO’s Craftopia and on programs including The Today Show, MARTHA, NY1, CBS Morning Show, and The View.
Jodi lives in New York with her husband Fred and their two sons, Sammy and Lionel.
