Dot Flower Pops

These simple dot flower pops are from the hard candy chapter in our upcoming book, Candy Aisle Crafts. They are a great starter project for getting used to melting hard candy and would make cute party favors!

Jolly Ranchers are my favorite candies to use for the candy-melting projects I’ve done over the years and have always found that it melts very smoothly.

When melting candy, stay right near the oven and use a kitchen timer. Melting happens pretty fast and it can easily bubble and burn if left in even 30 seconds too long. If you are forgetful like I am, a kitchen timer is essential. The candy is VERY HOT! Be very careful when you touch it. Wait at least 30 seconds after removing it from the oven if you want to reshape it. In the book I have a many more tips for successful candy-melting.

supplies
1 whole or half Jolly Ranchers, Bold Fruit Smoothie or classic
1 green Jolly Ranchers (cut in half for leaves)
stick (lollipop stick or skewer with the pointy part snipped off)

1. Heat oven to 275 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment. Place the flower (Fruit Smoothie) candies on parchment to one side of the cookie sheet to leave room for adding a stick later.

2. Place in oven for about 3-4 minutes. Remove and cool for 1 minute. Reshape into a circle if needed.

3. Add stick and twist to cover with candy. Place the leaf (green) candy pieces slightly overlapping the stick. Place back in oven for 1-2 minutes to melt and smooth. Remove and let cool on the baking sheet.
