*THIS* Sunday's New York Times (tomorrow!) includes their amazing NY Times for Kids section, featuring the result of one of my more dangerous jobs...styling this chocolate lava volcano cake. Not dangerous as in hot lavađŸ”„, but as in being in a kitchen testing multiple warm chocolate cakes while the kids were at school and the husband is "not eating cake" and the cakes are too handled to give to neighbors and maybe not appropriate for composting (right?) so....what is this food crafter to do but eat too many of them?

Anyway, the recipe is easy and delicious (trust me!). And the edible volcano decorations, if you choose to dress them up, are super fun!

Here are some behind-the-scenes shots of my cloud shape tests using this white cotton candy. And the little pebbles are candy coated chocolates!

I made the candy flames by melting yellow and orange Jolly Ranchers.

I love working with the brilliant team at The NY Times for Kids!! Pick up a copy tomorrow, Sunday, January 29, or buy a back issue soon at The New York Times Store !
