Our Fun Website Redesign!
/We are very excited to share the redesign of our website by brilliant designer and illustrator Robin Rosenthal. Robin, Amy Gropp Forbes (my photographer and book partner), and I collaborated to create this header design. It was so much fun to play with all the materials that we used in our first book and mix in materials used in our second soon-to-be-released book. (More on that soon!)
I have mentioned Robin before because she also designed our book, Candy Aisle Crafts, and art directed the amazing chapter opener pages like this one, above, for our hard candy chapter, or this one (marshmallow chapter) or this (gummy candy chapter). I've been a fan of hers since we worked together at Martha Stewart Kids magazine. She co-founded the blog Pen & Oink which covers children's book illustration. Make sure and click over there to see the awesome logo she designed.
We shot many different versions of each letter to use for both books for cover tries and chapter openers and for this website banner.
Here is a (messy!) behind-the-scene shot of our photo shoot. It was so much fun playing with all of our materials and seeing what we could make into letters!!
Our old logo, above, was made out of cookie letters and jumbo nonpareils, two items we used in our first book.
Because Super Make It is all about making stuff with everyday items from the supermarket or pantry, we have a sidebar (found when you click on any post) where you can search by material...say, if you have extra toilet paper tubes and don't know what to do with them! (We'll be adding to all the categories soon!)
We hope you like it. Please let us know what you think and sign up for our mailing list. Thank you!
