In this month's Parents magazine, I shared a few Easter treat ideas using Peeps, a candy that I have long loved for their bright sugar coating and chubby cuteness....perfect for decorating desserts! These little Peep chicks are in nests made from chow mein noodles in a marshmallow mixture. (click here for directions and a recipe).
Making candy necklaces is a fun activity for an Easter gathering. Click here for the instructions.
Here's a version I tried that didn't make it into the magazine. I dipped the Peeps into white chocolate and sprinkled on some nonpareils.
And another version, also dipped in white chocolate. After they hardened I had my son draw faces on with food coloring markers.
This Peeps-covered cake is perfect for a big Easter day crowd! Instructions here.
Here are a few behind-the-scenes shots of some other Peep-covered cakes that I tried. I snipped the bottoms off of some bunnies to make the scalloped edging. The possibilities are endless!
After Easter is over, treat yourself to a cup of hot chocolate, topped with a leftover Peep, of course!
